Job Description
Responsibilities

The National Land Analyst will support the National Land Team with all departmental work requirements. The National Land Team is responsible for 1) monitoring reports and information for compliance with company policies, archiving required approval documents and reports, and maintaining and organizing our network files, 2) preparing, validating, and reviewing all weekly, monthly, quarterly and Ad-hoc reports, 3) managing and maintaining Smartsheet users and reports, 4) participate in recurring meetings and calls, and 6) support and assist in our off balance sheet financing efforts. All positions require daily interaction with Corporate, Regional, and Division personnel in the successful execution of these duties.

Policy Compliance, Record Archiving, & Network File Maintenance

  • Archive Corporate Approval Packages (Network and Meritage Content Management (MCM))
  • Archive all Land Committee, Executive Chairman and Board deal approvals (Network & MCM)
  • Archive all subsequent deal submittal reports and files (Pre-Close Memo, Pre-Model Memo, etc.)
  • Archive all reports received from other departments to the network (sales, accounting, etc.)
  • Manage and maintain network files and keep all reports and files organized
  • Maintain a working knowledge of land policies, land playbook, and other related policies

National Land Team Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and validate the weekly Land Purchases report
  • Prepare, review, and validate the weekly Land Committee Schedule report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Spend Variance report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Development Budget/Contingency report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Development Spend Variance report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Bank Deal Tracker report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Dispositions Tracker report
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly Land Pipeline report (Smartsheet)
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the Land Committee Meeting materials
  • Prepare, review, and validate, and perform analysis of monthly accounting reports
  • Prepare, review, and validate, the monthly and quarterly Community Count Forecast reports
  • Prepare, review, and validate, and perform the analysis of the quarterly Lot and Land report
  • Prepare, review, validate, the quarterly SOX compliance reports
  • Prepare, review, validate the quarterly Land Deal Statistical reports (KPI)
  • Prepare, review, validate the quarterly Board reports (multiple)
  • Prepare, review, validate and perform analysis of quarterly Forecast reports
  • Prepare, review, and validate the quarterly Public Builder Report Card report
  • Prepare and maintain the Asset Management Checklist tracker workbook
  • Prepare various ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Reporting requirements subject to change

Smartsheet Administration for Divisions, Regions and Corporate Teams

  • Create and manage National Land Team reports
  • Assist division end users with access, reports, and questions

Active Participation in Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Meetings & Calls

  • Monthly Division Land team calls
  • Monthly National Land team Power Hour calls
  • Quarterly Public Homebuilder Earnings calls
  • Quarterly Land Banking Update calls

Off-Balance Sheet Financing

  • Support and assist in off-balance sheet financing efforts
  • Prepare National Land Deal Pipeline reports to identify potential OBS deals
  • Prepare capital asset packages for distribution to external partners
  • Coordinate with division to prepare and publish land banking deal information and reports
  • Review, analyze and provide feedback on complex financial models
  • Archive documents related to our off-balance sheet financing deals

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of in-depth financial reporting and analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting complex financial models
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively with management and cross functional teams and establish collaborative relationships

  • Ability to work independently without high-level of supervision
  • Ability to initiate self-learning of policies, processes and procedures
