Job Summary:

The Safety Program Manager is responsible to assist with the development of safety programs and policy administration, training curriculum and testing, audit processes for the department, support client-based requirements, and general safety support for jobsites and the department. The Safety Program Manager supervises administrative personnel who ensure safety documentation is managed in accordance with the Company's requirements and regulatory agencies or client-based requirements.

General Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fully supports all IES safety policies, procedures, programs, and federal and state standards.
  2. Assists with the implementation of and compliance with IES Safety policies, procedures, and
  3. Manage programs and personnel to ensure effective performance is being met in accordance with company requirements for safety, management, and fiscal responsibility.
  4. Develop straightforward safety programs from regulatory standards.
  5. Maintains third-party Verification Platforms (i.e., ISN, Avetta, etc.).
  6. Assist with the procurement of personal protective equipment; ensure adequate protection of workers and ensure OSHA compliance.
  7. Identify internal and external policy and training programs to address competency gaps.
  8. Track and report on training outcomes.
  9. Develop content for company-specific software applications using computer and virtual classrooms, webinars and other methods as required.
  10. Develops processes and plans to reduce or eliminate hazards and safety incidents.
  11. Reviewing applications or other documents to determine the acceptance or to make recommendations for management decisions related to the program.
  12. Assist in the development of short- and long-term plans for the safety program, monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate performance.
  13. Prepares written reports and summaries to provide concise, meaningful information regarding safety audits, investigations, and issues.
  14. Prepares and maintains safety related records and reports.
  15. Teach, counsels and mentors all stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture.
  16. Conducts needs-assessments by collecting information pertaining to work procedures, workflow, and reports, understanding job-specific functions and tasks.
  17. Works with the training team to design and implement new training programs and revise old programs.
  18. Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Must promote Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer, vendor, contractor, and IES representative(s).
  • Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Must possess the manual dexterity, flexibility, and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and distinguish all applicable codes, colors, and symbols correctly.
  • Will maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Must be able to bend the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
  • Must possess the ability to learn the Company and customer computer systems.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in construction safety preferred, Structured Cabling Industry experience is ideal.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 Standards
  • Current certification as an Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer or equivalent.
  • CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have technical writing skills.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint & Outlook) & e-learning platforms.
  • Must be detail-oriented with high level organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders including field personnel, IES management and customer.
  • Ability to respond as needed in support of all safety emergency situations with or without advance notice.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Must have proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
