CONCRETE QA/QC MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Concrete Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of concrete quality in our vertical construction projects. Your expertise will directly impact the integrity, safety, and durability of our commercial structures. This role specifically emphasizes vertical concrete work.

Founded in 1918, Okland Construction operates as a regional general contracting and construction management company with now nearly 1,000 employees and growing. It supervises the architectural, engineering, bidding, contracting, building, inspection from the beginning to the end of the project and specializes in concrete self-preform on large commercial scale.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control Procedures for Vertical Concrete:

  • Develop and implement robust quality control procedures tailored to vertical concrete construction.
  • Regularly inspect formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placement for compliance with industry standards.
  • Address any quality issues related to vertical concrete processes promptly.

Formwork and Reinforcement Oversight:

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure proper formwork design and installation for vertical elements (walls, columns, etc.).
  • Verify correct placement and alignment of steel reinforcement (rebar) within concrete forms.

Concrete Mix Design and Testing:

  • Work closely with engineers to optimize concrete mix designs for vertical structures.
  • Oversee concrete testing, including slump tests, compressive strength tests, and curing assessments.

Curing and Temperature Control:

  • Monitor curing processes for vertical concrete to achieve optimal strength.
  • Implement temperature control measures during curing, especially for tall structures.

Architectural Finishes and Aesthetics:

  • Collaborate with architects to achieve desired concrete finishes (exposed aggregate, polished surfaces, textures) on vertical elements.
  • Ensure aesthetic quality aligns with project specifications.

Safety Compliance for Vertical Work:

  • Enforce safety protocols during vertical concrete placement.
  • Address fall protection, harnesses, and other safety measures for workers.

Collaboration with Subcontractors:

  • Coordinate with subcontractors involved in vertical concrete work.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control guidelines during all phases of construction.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of concrete quality inspections, test results, and compliance.
  • Generate quality control reports for project documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in concrete quality control, with a focus on vertical construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of vertical concrete materials, curing methods, and architectural finishes.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations specific to vertical work.
