Job Summary:

IES Commercial, Inc. Communications Division is seeking a full-time Safety Trainer responsible for conducting safety training through a wide variety of means to ensure comprehension and compliance of company, customer and regulated standards.

General Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fully supports all IES safety policies, procedures, programs and federal and state standards.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures implementation of and compliance with IES Safety policies, procedures and
  • Assist with the development of and provides safety training that is trade-related and delivery training in the classroom. This will include hands on demonstrations, class outlines, presentations, handouts, tests, design exercises.
  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps.
  • Track and report on training outcomes.
  • Conducts training classes by presenting job-specific and company-specific software applications using computer and virtual classrooms, webinars and other methods as required. Classes include: NEO, OSHA 10/30 hour, and other safety training as required.
  • Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance.
  • Ensures a safe and pleasant learning environment for staff/students.
  • Delivers and coordinates safety training for management and field personnel in accident prevention techniques, compliance with IES safety policies, procedures and programs and federal and state standards.
  • Prepares written reports and summaries to provide concise, meaningful information regarding safety audits, investigations and issues.
  • Prepares and maintains safety related records and reports.
  • Teach, counsels and mentors all stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture.
  • Works with the training team to design and implement new training programs and revise old programs.
  • Support the Safety Department as needed and completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Must promote Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer, vendor, contractor, and IES representative(s).
  • Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Must possess the manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and distinguish all applicable codes, colors and symbols correctly.
  • Will maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Must be able to bend the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
  • Must possess the ability to learn the Company and customer computer systems.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years' experience in construction safety training, preferably in the telecommunications or electrical industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 Standards
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the Confined Space Entry Standards (1926.1200 Subpart AA)
  • Must have current certification as an Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer
  • CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint & Outlook) & e-learning platforms.
  • Must be detail-oriented with high level organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders including field personnel, IES management and customer.
  • Ability to respond as needed in support of all safety emergency situations with or without advance notice.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Must have proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
