GENERAL SCOPE & SUMMARY

As a Cloud Services Engineer you will be responsible for the daily operation of our self-service platform, IVR systems, and tools around the globe. You will be a key contributor for troubleshooting and maintaining several cloud-based software clusters. You will also be responsible for upkeep of application deployment automation with products like Chef and Ansible.

PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Alvaria's Software as a Service (SaaS) Products and Core Services
  • Keep Chef and Ansible deployment scripts up to date as existing environments change
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system alarms and alerts
  • Create alarms as needed to improve visibility of product health o Implement self-healing automation whenever possible
  • Create and maintain documentation around products for which you are responsible
  • Respond to escalations within Alvaria Cloud Operations (on-call rotation required)
  • Train team members in the effective use and operation of our software deployments
  • Establish performance metrics and provide insight into platform stability and performance for other departments
  • Assist product engineering teams in planning new features and stability enhancements
  • Track software defects and shortcomings in engineering tickets, establishing priorities and timelines for resolution
  • Attend planning meetings for product deployments, and understand and relay expectations to team members
  • Estimate accurate timelines for product releases and other project dates
  • Act as a liaison between Cloud Operations and Alvaria's Customer Care
  • Occasional after-hours deployment of change requests within and outside of our standard maintenance windows

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Minimum 3 years' experience Systems Administration in Redhat-based Server environments (RHEL, CentOS, Scientific Linux, or Fedora)
  • Experience with cloud computing environments, such as Amazon Web Services, GCP, Azure.
  • Experience with Bash or Ruby scripting to automate repetitive tasks
  • Experience troubleshooting server related I/O, CPU, Memory, Disk performance issues
  • Experience with Change Management or PCI Compliance a plus
  • Experience with Chef
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with BIND DNS, with dynamic zones and views
  • Experience with maintaining complex Cloud Platforms and Deployments

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field of study (Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field)
