Overview

As Director, Commercial Loan Operations, you will have full accountability for the Phoenix Commercial Loan Operations team. This team focuses on the boarding and servicing of complex specialty commercial loans including syndications and participations. This critical role is responsible for driving the strategic direction and managing a team of associates who provide high-level support for various functions within Commercial Loan Operations. Drives changes to processes or policies that enhance operational efficiencies, associate performance, and service capabilities. Leads operational project planning and execution. Partners with business leaders, teams, and other stakeholders toward the achievement of high operational standards.

This is a hybrid position based in Phoenix, AZ. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the Phoenix office location.


Responsibilities

  • Manages the accurate, timely boarding of large commercial loans, including Participations, Syndications, Commercial Real Estate and Capital Call Lines. Develops/implements process efficiencies while managing Risk and Control. Monitors compliance and accurate reporting within all operational processes. Partners with business leaders and other departments to ensure that the operations are operationally prepared to meet market demand and client needs.
  • Operations Oversight - Responsible for the production, quality, and regulatory compliance of all site operations. Works closely with internal technology teams and product vendors to deliver system or product upgrades with minimal client impact. Manages and executes regulatory compliance functions. Reviews and approves all system changes impacting commercial loan operations including program enhancements, releases, and new applications.
  • Risk Management - Manages risk mitigation efforts and projects to protect the Bank against operational, strategic, reputational, credit, and compliance risks. Identifies Key Controls (SOX) and ensures internal controls are in place to manage risk. Directs the continuous review of exceptions, processes, and other areas with potential exposure. Facilitates external and internal audits. Assists auditors, loan review teams, and examiners in reviews of loan operations. Reviews reports and daily processes to mitigate potential risks.
  • Business Strategy - Develops and implements strategies that enhance service levels and regulatory compliance within daily operations. Forms strong partnerships with other leaders in the Bank to ensure overall strategy is met. Drives continuous improvement by optimizing technology, processes, and people capabilities.
  • Relationship Development - Develops and maintains influential relationships with business leaders, and other key stakeholders to ensure full support of Commercial Loan Operations initiatives. Works closely with business teams, clients, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide high levels of service. Works closely with auditors, regulatory agencies, and senior leadership in the monitoring and review of department processes. Assigns managers their areas of responsibilities and provides guidance as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Operations & Leadership
OR
High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Operations & Leadership

Preferred Areas of Experience:
* Leadership experience within Operations.
* Strong strategic planning, project management, organizational and workforce management skills.
* Deep knowledge of and experience with commercial loan operations and Life of Loan functions.
* Experience working within a large financial institution (LFI) with emphasis in RCSA programs and SOX controls.
* Deep understanding of End-to-End process with detailed knowledge of data flow to ensure Data Integrity and Quality.
* Ability to understand concepts and new ideas quickly.
* Familiarity with core Risk Management methods as applied in a financial services environment.
* Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, confidentiality, and professionalism.
* Excellent strategic leadership skills with the ability to influence and think outside the box.
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills - both written and verbal.
* Ability to analyze, interpret and utilize significant data to make sound business decisions.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced, diverse, and growth-oriented environment.
* Experience with commercial loan systems Loan IQ, Stucky and/or IMX is preferred.
