Group Exercise Instructor

This position will plan, organize, and implement exercise instruction for multiple group fitness classes that range in variety of intensity levels and class formats. This includes counting, cueing, organizing choreography and much more. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure safety of all members in the class. As a group fitness instructor, you will act as a role model and resource for all recreation center patrons and provide excellent customer service by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

• Instruct patrons on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, identify different muscle groups being used and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscle groups;
• Prepare appropriate equipment, music and handouts;
• Assist patrons, answer questions and maintain a positive exercise experience for all members;
• Ensure safety standards are met and the department and facility policies are adhered to;
• Keeps abreast of current trends in fields of responsibility;
• Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

• Verifiable experience working in the fitness industry
• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR, First Aid Certified and AED certification
• Current industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor Certification (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM preferred)
• Academic education (AA, AAS, BS) preferred
