Position Title: Welder, MIG

Essential Functions:
- Retrieves and sets up material/fixture
- MIG welds flatstock or tubing as instructed by customer orders, Kanban, blueprints, using steel or silicon bronze wire to meet quality specifications
- Effectively uses computerized Information Center to retrieve product/process information
- Effectively uses Smart Team Application to verify prints and revision levels
- Performs required ISO first/last piece part inspections visually or with using calibers, height gauges, angle finders, or check fixtures
- Visually inspects material during the machining process to prevent defects and scrap
- Adheres to all departmental procedures on reporting time, material, re-work, etc.
- Provides written suggestions for continuous improvement
- Assists with training of others
- Strict compliance to FDA and ISO control standards and record keeping
- Adheres to all safety policies
- Performs predictive/preventative maintenance as necessary
- Maintains safety and housekeeping standards n accordance with 5 S principles
- Complete all required training applicable to assigned position
- Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrated ability to MIG weld according to Invacare standards
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic blueprint reading
- Demonstrated ability to read gauges
- Must demonstrate near vision 20/25 or better, Snellen or equivalent in at least one eye, either corrected or uncorrected
- Good eye and hand coordination
- Ability to coordinate use of torch and silicon or steel stick at the same time
- Ability to operate hand tools (i.e. hand grinders)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
- Bending, twisting and/or squatting may be required
- Demonstrated flexibility in attitude and willingness to work in all areas as needed
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow work instructions
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work overtime with little or no notice
- Ability to be cross-trained
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of quality standards to apply visual inspection
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate basic information regarding processes and quality related questions
- Must have thorough understanding of quality systems and their relationship to job performance including ISO Overview, corrective/preventative actions and work instructions
- Must have physical ability and manual dexterity necessary to perform the duties pertaining to job
