Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking to hire a Bridge EIT/Coordinator in our Minneapolis, MN or Madison, WI office who will help grow and support the Minnesota and Wisconsin market. The selected individual will also have the opportunity to work on bridge projects across the country from other HDR offices ranging from conventional grade separations to complex highway interchanges and marque river crossings.

In the role of the Bridge EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to

  • Prepare Bridge designs following MnDOT and/or WisDOT processes.
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, post-tension concrete and cable), box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Participate in bridge inspections and perform structural load rating calculations
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required, structural emphasis preferred
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will be give the title of "Coordinator" and expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • MnDOT and/ or WisDOT bridge design experience preferred
  • MicroStation, AutoCAD proficiency
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Bridge Inspection Experience
  • Bridge design experience
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, LARSA 4D, CSiBridge
  • Experience with post-tensioned concrete design
  • Experience with Strut-and-Tie Analysis
  • Experience using Bentley OpenBridge Designer and Modeler
  • Preference given to local candidates
